Integrating multiple functions into one
Industrial grade instruments:NI ELVIS III integrates intelligent measuring instruments and embedded design functions, allowing students to analyze experiments while precisely controlling input behavior. NI ELVIS III integrates seven industrial standard instruments, including Bode plots, function generators, oscilloscopes, and digital multimeters. Adopting a multi in one instrument integration method, it has a small size and powerful functions, making it very suitable for new teaching methods such as university innovation and entrepreneurship centers, flipped classrooms, and remote online learning.
Embedded FPGA control:Based on the RIO architecture, ELVIS III integrates Arm real-time processor and Xilinx Zynq 7020 FPGA chip. The program can run independently in ELVIS III hardware for real-time control, which is conducive to conducting comprehensive innovative experiments such as system design that combines measurement and control.
Third party hardware experimental board:Several companies such as Texas Instruments (TI) and Quanser have developed transformative course experiments based on the NI ELVIS III platform to enhance students' understanding of basic concepts in fields such as electronics, mechatronics, control, power electronics, and communication. By replacing different boards in the middle, such as the power electronics and circuit boards shown in the figure below, experiments based on different disciplines can be conducted. Meanwhile, if the teacher has specific teaching experiment requirements, NI can authorize the teacher to customize the board.
Experimental case:
Comprehensive experiment on automatic closed-loop speed control of a motor based on ELVIS III
The NI ELVIS III program can be integrated with industrial needs. Taking a real industrial scenario of measuring and adjusting the speed of a motor as an example, the NI experimental program includes guided course exercises on how to select sensors and PID algorithm control during the experiment, allowing students to participate in the experiment from start to finish and actively propose complete solutions.
Conduct remote experiments
Measurement Live + NI ELVIS III
Measurement Live is an online version of the upper computer software used on the ELVIS III hardware experimental platform, which allows users to access and use various instruments integrated on ELVIS III from anywhere, at any time, and on any device. It is a web browser based, operating system independent, fully interactive online ELVIS III instrument function controller that provides operation panels for various instruments of ELVIS III, including oscilloscopes, function and arbitrary waveform generators, data generators, digital multimeters, adjustable power supplies, Bode plot analyzers, current and voltage analyzers, digital I/O, and data loggers.
Multisim Live + NI ELVIS III
Multisim Live allows users to perform circuit simulation work anywhere, anytime, and on any device. It is a web browser based, operating system independent, fully interactive online circuit simulation environment built on precise industry standard SPICE simulation models.
Simulation of Sine Square Wave Conversion Circuit
Measurement Live+ELVIS III can conduct online remote experiments in real-time at any time. If circuit experiment teaching is required and combined with Multisim Live, Multisim Live+Measurement Live+ELVIS III will provide teachers and students with an online full process experimental teaching experience of "from theory to simulation, and then to practice"
Experimental case:
1. Open Multisim Live webpage with a browser( https://www.multisim.com/ )Create circuit simulation diagrams based on experimental requirements, test and record data.
2. Build a circuit on ELVIS III according to the circuit simulation diagram, connect ELVIS III to the power supply and network, and generate an ID number for ELVIS III.
3. Open the Measurement Live webpage with a browser( https://measurementslive.ni.com/ )By connecting to ELVIS III through the ID number, remote testing can be achieved. The functions on ELVIS III can be called to conduct actual measurements and record data.
4. By comparing and analyzing the simulation results of Multisim Live with the actual measurement results obtained through remote Measurement Live calling ELVIS III, we aim to achieve an online full process experimental teaching experience from theory, simulation, to practice.
